The darkness of the human experience is present in almost everything we create, including what we show our children. We do not shield them from the world with our nursery rhymes and picture books, only show them what it is like and how to navigate it in a manner appropriate for their age. My works use the saturated colors and nonhuman characters typically present in children's books to flip this on its head, this time showing the adults the world through a child's eyes, and what a child has to fear, such as monsters under your bed or shadows on the walls, not the other way around.
