I use my artwork as a way to not only please myself aesthetically, but to make a difference. Specifically in the environment. I believe that art can be used to change one’s perspective on certain issues. I want to focus on showing the beauty of our earth and wildlife through oil painting. While my artistic style is still developing, I enjoy painting in a realistic way, which emphasizes texture and brush marks. I feel this helps my art to have more emotion, movement, and also show how not everything is perfect. I want my paintings to convey emotions about saving our planet, how humans are intertwined with the environment surrounding them, and also lead my audience to wonder about themselves. For example, in my oil painting of the Coy fish, I left the background blank in order to let the viewer wonder and have freedom with their own imagination. Additionally, throughout my series, I used flowers and a variety of human organs in order to convey the idea of humanity being interlocked with nature.
