My sculpture investigates "How can literal interpretation of animalistic idioms with sculpture both represent and challenge social values?" Idioms, particularly those involving animals carry a double meaning: what they figuratively represent versus the literal ideas they invoke. Through my investigation, I personified selected idioms by creating physical depictions of animal-related phrases in the form of “chimeras” (human-animal hybrids). My inquiry has conveyed the complexities of English idioms via tangible sculptural symbolism, creating double and triple entendres between spoken words, thoughts, and social values.
My drawings, painting, and sketches are a collection of pieces that explore different techniques and aspects of my creative lens. This particular accumulation represents my growth as an artist and my development in various forms, concepts and styles.
