Oscar Bowring
My work was originally inspired by Signs and Symbols, a story I came across. The story is about a boy suffering from referential mania, a condition in which one seemingly loses all hold on reality. It ultimately inspired me to explore the idea of escaping our mundane existence. I started with a bunch of preliminary concept sketches on escapism, while also practicing the technique I would use in my series. I have since created a series of pieces, all with continued technique of micron pen outlines and blended copic marker. I use color to represent the 'new world' the subject is escaping from.
