How can the color represent the cycle of trauma and healing? Utilizing acrylic paint and the inside of cradled wood panels, a series of paintings was made to establish a storyline in which an Angel is disrupted by trauma and their process of regaining a part of their normalcy. These paintings use colors from natural, unified earthy tones to bright, irregular contrasts to represent peace and trauma, respectively. In order, these colors elicit feelings of tranquility, fear, anger, and acceptance, and are used to follow along the Angel’s process through trauma. All of the paintings in this series are inspired by angels and birds, such as doves and swans, as I find innocence in them, and I enjoy the aesthetics of wings. Additionally, these paintings are inspired by Thomas Cole, Gustav Klimt, and Yoshitaka Amano.
